What's going on?

Lately, more than ever, we are asked, "It seems like there are a lot of 'For Sale' signs up. What is going on?" Though interest rates are low and much of the country is experiencing a record year for home sales, our market has lagged behind previous year's activity. Much of the explanation can be found in the business section of the Free Press. But there is more to the story. As we've said here before, one of our colleagues is working with a large group of clients that Daimler-Chrysler is bringing in on 3 year contracts. We see evidence that things buyers are regaining their confidence and getting back into the market. Dmitry and I had a great month in July, and we are expecting August to be even better. It almost feels as if the traditional Spring selling season was pushed back by a month or two this year. For sellers, our advice is that you have to recognize that this is a very competitive market. There are a few components to a successful sale:

  • Make sure that your home "shows" as well as possible
  • Pricing must be in line with the competition
  • Marketing is KEY. A successful marketing campaign will expose your home to the right buyers and/or their agents.
I could go on for a couple of pages about marketing. Its our passion. We've had a couple of home sellers recently tell us that our marketing plan was the most innovative and complete of any agent they had interviewed. We like that comparision! Obviously, our motivation is the same as our sellers': to get the home sold. We've developed the tools to get results. Just this week we sold a condominium in a complex where other units have been on the market for up to a year. Our client had a signed purchase agreement in just over 60 days. So, if you are thinking of selling, please give us a call. We'd be happy to develop a marketing plan for you.
